Assited Lymphatic Therapy (ALT)
Assisted lymphatic therapy, Savannah, Tennessee
The lymphatic system is a network of vessels that carry lymphatic fluid from the tissues to the bloodstream. This system delivers nutrients, removes waste, and is essential for proper immune function. Lymphatic fluid transports white blood cells to where they are needed to attack bacteria and fight infection. Lymph nodes act as filters. They trap bacteria, viruses, and other substances. Unfortunately, these “filters” can become congested. ALT is used to decongest these areas improving lymphatic flow.
Many health conditions can interrupt your body’s natural ability to remove toxins and waste products through the lymphatic system. This may result in swelling, pain, or discomfort in certain areas of the body.
Assisted Lymphatic Therapy at Flourish Transformation Center is a relaxing experience that supports whole-body health and wellness. It helps you release toxins, relieve stress, improve blood flow, and reduce certain types of pain.
How is assisted lymphatic therapy carried out?
ALT combines the general technique of manual lymphatic therapy with a hand-held device designed to stimulate the lymph in a more efficient and effective manner. It involves the application of various energy forms while imitating the manual therapy technique.
A special instrument, with two wands, is used in sweeping motions over your body. It uses a combination of vibration, light, and electrical waves, guiding excess fluid to flow out and away. Assisted lymphatic therapy is a relaxing and calming experience that works to stimulate the lymph and decongest the lymphatic system. This improves the body’s ability to deliver nutrients, rid itself of toxins, and bolster the immune system. A typical lymphatic drainage massage takes about 60 minutes.
What can I expect during my therapy?
During your session you will be draped with linen while comfortably lying on a massage table. A calming environment is created by a dimly lit room and soft music playing in the background. Your therapist will use two wands that gently glide over your skin. You may feel gentle pressure as your therapist works out areas of congestion and inflammation. This light pressure will be as calming and enjoyable as a tissue massage with your regular massage therapist!
After your session you will be provided with a refreshing beverage to replenish electrolytes and vitamins. Because ALT is so effective at detoxing, you may notice the need to use the restroom more frequently just after your session.

Benefits of assisted lymphatic therapy
Your lymphatic system can be compared to a freeway. When congested nothing moves. The fluid then becomes thick and overloaded with toxins leading to numerous chronic inflammatory conditions. ALT improves lymphatic flow which enhances pathogen removal, detoxifies body tissues, and boosts immunity.
Assisted lymphatic therapy also reduces swelling caused by lymphedema. Lymphedema occurs when there is abnormal accumulation of lymph in a local area. ALT decongests and dissociates trapped proteins in the affected area to improve swelling and discomfort. ALT stimulates the lymph at a greater depth and with less effort than manual massage. Multiple forms of energy are used which maximizes treatment results.
This treatment may be used as part of our cancer support along with ozone therapy and our IV infusions.
